He also collaborated during the album recordings and performances of his music with musicians who had already made their musical mark with, among others: Eva De Roovere, Flip Kowlier, K's Choice, Clouseau, Il Novecento, Admiral Freebee, Broken Circle Breakdown band and others. D. Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and independent producer Chris D. Smith is the son of art painter Michel De Smet and cousin of Antwerp modern classical avant garde composer Raoul De Smet. As a musical chameleon and troubadour, D. Smith always lets the muse determine his musical direction and not commercial formats, trends or airplay. His earliest music influences go back to the music of the golden sixties with fantastic songwriters and bands such as: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The Who, Neil Young & Jackson Browne. He then found inspiration in Americana and Roots Rock (The Band, Gram Parsons, Springsteen, Van Morrison), Blues Rock (Led Zeppelin), the (Chicago) Blues of Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and BB King, the Italo pop of Lucio Battisti, chanson ( Brel and Gainsbourg) bossa nova (Gilberto) and Jazz (Bill Evans, Paolo Conte). Even classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Bach are among his regular sources of inspiration. Finally, D. Smith attaches great importance to well-crafted literary lyrics, with Bob Dylan, Dylan Thomas, Rimbaud and Verlaine serving as important inspirations. His mission is to deliver traditionally crafted, authentic, timeless and honest songs without the help of AI. Songs for the true music lover!
